Music

Our comprehensive Music curriculum ensures that each student, from Foundation to Grade 6, actively engages in a dedicated 60-minute music class every week.

These sessions are designed to foster an appreciation and understanding of music through various activities encompassing listening, performance, and creation.

Our students have the opportunity to experiment with a wide array of musical instruments, including the ukulele, keyboard, guitar, and bucket drums. They also explore both tuned and un-tuned percussion instruments. Our students are exposed to diverse musical traditions from around the world including indigenous music and various musical genres. Through this exploration, they develop their ability to analyze and appreciate music, honing essential listening skills.

As students’ progress through the junior years, they are guided in the art of creating and composing music, with a strong emphasis on singing, percussion and movement. As they advance to the senior years, they are empowered to harness their creativity through an array of both traditional instruments and digital music technologies.

For those in Grades 1 to 6 who harbor a passion for singing, we invite them to join our School Choir, where they gather once a week to sing together. These students regularly showcase their vocal talents at school assemblies, performance nights, and within our local community.

Students in Grades 1 to 6 have the opportunity to select a musical instrument for personal or small group lessons. This enriching experience is made possible through our newly introduced instrumental program, facilitated by Experience Music.
